Product Description

In heavy machinery, transmitting torque effectively is paramount. Spline shafts are the superior solution for connecting rotating elements, offering far greater strength and surface contact than keyed shafts. Yile Machinery specializes in the custom manufacturing of high-precision spline shafts, including complex designs that integrate threads, tapers, and bearing journals onto a single, monolithic component.

We engineer our shafts for the most demanding environments, from steel rolling mills to heavy-duty industrial gearboxes, ensuring perfect fitment and long service life.

Our Spline and Thread Machining Capabilities

We combine advanced materials with precision machining processes to create shafts that meet your exact specifications.

1. Expert Spline Machining

A spline's effectiveness depends entirely on the precision of its profile. We have the expertise to produce all common spline types:

  • Involute Splines: The preferred choice for high-torque applications, offering self-centering properties and maximum strength.

  • Straight-Sided (Rectangular) Splines: A robust solution for transmitting torque, often used in sliding applications.

  • Helical Splines: Used to transmit torque between non-parallel shafts or to minimize axial thrust.

Our shafts are machined using precision spline hobbing or spline milling techniques to guarantee a perfect profile for full engagement and even load distribution.

2. Precision Threading for Fastening & Actuation

Many applications require a shaft to not only transmit torque but also to act as a fastener or actuator. We can machine a variety of threads onto any part of the shaft:

  • ACME Threads: Ideal for lead screws and linear actuation.

  • Metric & Imperial (UNC/UNF) Threads: For fastening components with lock nuts.

  • Custom Thread Profiles: Machined to your specific drawing.

3. One-Piece Forged Construction

For maximum strength and reliability, we recommend forging the raw material before machining. This orients the steel's grain structure to the shape of the shaft, eliminating the weak points inherent in welded or assembled components.

Materials & Heat Treatment for Extreme Durability

The performance of a spline shaft is defined by its material and hardness. We work with a range of certified materials and apply specialized heat treatments to optimize your component for its specific application.

  • Common Materials:

    • High-Strength Alloy Steel: 42CrMo, 34CrNiMo6, 40CrNiMo

    • Carbon Steel: C45, C50

  • Specialized Heat Treatments:

    • Induction Hardening: Creates a hard, wear-resistant surface on the splines and bearing journals while keeping the core of the shaft tough and ductile to absorb shock loads.

    • Quenching & Tempering (Q&T): Used to achieve high tensile strength and toughness throughout the entire shaft.

Applications in Heavy Industry

Our custom splined and threaded shafts are critical components in:

  • Steel & Rolling Mills: Roll drive shafts, screw-down shafts, and gearbox shafts.

  • Forging & Stamping Presses: Main drive and clutch shafts.

  • Mining & Construction: Drive shafts for conveyors, crushers, and tunneling equipment.

  • Industrial Gearboxes: High-torque input and output shafts.

  • Power Generation: Turbine and generator connecting shafts.
