Product Description

Engineered for Maximum Service Life and Resistance to Thermal Fatigue

Ingot moulds operate in one of the harshest industrial environments, subject to extreme thermal shock with every pour. The repeated cycles of rapid heating by molten metal and subsequent cooling cause stress that leads to cracking, warping, and eventual failure. A low-quality mould results in high consumption rates, increased operational costs, and potential production interruptions.

Yile Machinery manufactures high-performance ingot moulds from superior-grade cast iron and heat-resistant cast steels. Our process is specifically designed to maximize the mould's resistance to thermal fatigue, delivering a longer service life and a lower cost-per-ton of metal cast.

The Key to Longevity: Our Manufacturing Process

A longer-lasting mould is not an accident; it's the result of a controlled manufacturing process focused on material integrity.

  1. Superior Material Selection: We select the optimal material based on your specific application and target lifespan.

    • Nodular / Ductile Cast Iron (e.g., QT500-7): Offers excellent thermal conductivity and good resistance to thermal shock, providing a great balance of performance and cost for many aluminum, zinc, and lead applications.

    • Heat-Resistant Cast Steels (e.g., Cr-Mo alloys): For the most demanding applications, these alloys provide superior strength at high temperatures and the highest resistance to thermal fatigue and cracking, maximizing mould lifetime.

  2. High-Integrity Casting: Our foundry process ensures a clean, dense casting, free from the porosity, sand inclusions, or shrinkage that can act as starting points for cracks.

  3. Stress-Relieving Heat Treatment: This is the most critical step. Every mould undergoes a controlled annealing or normalizing heat treatment cycle.

    • Benefit: This process eliminates the internal stresses created during casting. A stress-relieved mould is dramatically less prone to warping and premature cracking, directly translating to a longer operational life.

  4. Precision Machining (As Required): We can provide moulds in as-cast condition or machine them to precise dimensions for a smooth surface finish. A smooth mould cavity improves the final ingot's appearance and facilitates easier de-moulding.

Fully Customizable to Your Casting Operation

We are an OEM supplier and can manufacture moulds to your exact specifications.

  • Custom Sizes & Shapes: From small ingots to large "sow" moulds.

  • Target Ingot Weight: We design the mould cavity to produce ingots of a consistent, specified weight.

  • Stackable Designs: To optimize floor space and handling.

  • Integrated Logos: Cast your company logo or alloy grade directly onto the ingot.

Quality Assurance for Consistent Performance

  • Material Certification: Chemical analysis to verify the grade of every heat of iron or steel.

  • Hardness Testing: To ensure the material meets the required specifications for durability.

  • Dimensional Verification: To guarantee consistent ingot weight and size.

  • Non-Destructive Testing (UT/PT): Available upon request for critical applications to ensure castings are 100% free of defects.

Applications

We manufacture ingot and sow moulds for the casting of a wide range of non-ferrous metals:

  • Aluminum (Primary & Secondary)

  • Zinc

  • Lead

  • Tin

  • Copper-based alloys (Brass, Bronze)
