Tie rods are the structural backbone of a press. Subjected to immense and repetitive tensile loads with every stroke, their integrity is essential for press accuracy, operational safety, and production uptime. A tie rod failure is a catastrophic event, leading to immediate production stoppage and the risk of severe damage to the machine and tooling.

Material Selection & Forging:
We start with high-quality, certified alloy steels known for their strength and toughness, such as 42CrMo (AISI 4140) , 34CrNiMo6 (AISI 4340), and C45.
The material is forged to refine its grain structure and align the grain flow, significantly increasing its strength and resistance to fatigue compared to standard bar stock.
Heat Treatment:
Each forged tie rod undergoes a precise Quenching and Tempering (Q&T) process. This develops the optimal combination of high tensile strength to handle the load and toughness to resist fracture initiation.
Thread Rolling for Unmatched Fatigue Strength:
This is the most critical step for a long-lasting tie rod. Instead of cutting the threads (which creates stress points), we form them using a thread rolling process.
Benefit: Thread rolling cold-works the material, creating compressive residual stresses and a grain flow that follows the thread profile. This process can increase the fatigue life of the threads by up to 10 times compared to cut threads, dramatically reducing the risk of failure at the most common point: the thread root.
We understand the critical nature of these components. Every tie rod is rigorously inspected to ensure it meets and exceeds design specifications.
100% Ultrasonic Testing (UT): The entire forged bar is inspected to guarantee it is free from any internal defects before machining.
Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI): The finished threads and transition areas are inspected to ensure they are free from any surface cracks.
Mechanical Property Verification: Tensile and impact tests confirm that the heat treatment process achieved the required material strength and toughness.
Precision Dimensional Control: All dimensions, and especially the thread profile, are verified to ensure perfect fitment with tie rod nuts.
