Product Description

The #1 Cause of Crane Downtime is Premature Wheel Wear.

In any continuous industrial operation, from steel mills to container ports, crane downtime means lost production. The constant friction and immense load on crane wheels lead to wear on the tread and flanges, requiring costly and time-consuming replacement.

Yile Machinery manufactures custom forged and cast steel crane wheels that are specifically engineered to combat wear. Our advanced manufacturing and heat treatment processes result in a wheel that runs longer, reduces maintenance intervals, and lowers your total cost of operation.

Forged vs. Cast: The Right Process for Your Application

We offer both forged and cast wheels to provide the best solution for your crane's specific needs.

  • Forged Steel Wheels (Recommended for Heavy-Duty Use): For maximum load capacity and wear resistance, forged steel is the superior choice. The forging process creates a refined, continuous grain structure that provides exceptional strength and fatigue resistance, making it ideal for high-capacity cranes in severe service environments.

  • Cast Steel Wheels: For standard load or less frequent use applications, cast steel wheels offer a reliable and cost-effective solution.

Advanced Heat Treatment: The Key to a Longer-Lasting Wheel

A wheel's material is only half the story. The true performance comes from the heat treatment. Our process creates a dual-property wheel: a hard, wear-resistant outer surface with a softer, more ductile core to absorb shock loads.

  • Differential Hardening (Induction Hardening): We utilize induction hardening to create a deep, uniform hardened layer on the wheel's tread and inner flange surfaces—the primary points of contact with the rail. This process achieves a high surface hardness (typically 45-55 HRC or higher) to a significant depth, dramatically increasing the wheel's service life.

  • Through Hardening & Tempering: The entire wheel is quenched and tempered to refine the grain structure and establish high core strength and toughness.

This combination ensures the wheel can resist surface wear while also withstanding the immense stresses of daily operation without becoming brittle.

Complete Crane Wheel Assemblies & Components

We are your single source for complete wheel solutions, manufactured to your exact drawings or reverse-engineered from a sample.

  • Wheel Types: Single Flange, Double Flange, and Flangeless "Roller" Wheels.

  • Complete Assemblies: We can supply fully assembled wheel sets, including the axle, bearings (SKF, FAG, Timken), bearing housings, and drive gears.

  • Precision CNC Machining: All wheels are CNC machined to tight tolerances for perfect kinematics and smooth operation.

Quality Control & Inspection

Every wheel we produce is inspected to ensure it meets the highest standards of safety and performance.

  • Material Certification: Full traceability and MTRs for all steel used.

  • Non-Destructive Testing (NDT): UT (Ultrasonic) and MPI (Magnetic Particle) inspection to guarantee freedom from internal or surface defects.

  • Hardness Profile Testing: We verify the surface hardness and the depth of the hardened layer.

  • Dimensional Inspection: CMM or laser tracking to ensure all dimensions match the engineering drawing.
