Product Description

The output shaft is the final, critical link in your excavator's powertrain. It bears the full, multiplied torque from the planetary reducer and transmits it to the sprocket (for travel) or the swing bearing. A failure at this stage is catastrophic. Yile Machinery engineers and manufactures high-strength, forged output shafts that are built to withstand extreme torsional loads and ensure your equipment stays productive.

Understanding the Role of the Reducer Output Shaft

Inside your excavator's final drive or swing drive is a planetary gear system that multiplies torque. The output shaft, often integrated with the planetary carrier, must handle this immense force. Its key features are:

  • External Splines: Engage with the drive sprocket or swing pinion.

  • Internal Splines: Engage with the sun gear or other components of the planetary set.

  • Integrated Gear/Carrier: May be manufactured as a single unit with the planetary gear carrier.

The integrity of these splines and the shaft's core strength are paramount to the machine's function.

Our Manufacturing Excellence: Engineered for Torque

We build our output shafts through a multi-stage process focused on creating maximum strength and perfect fitment.

  1. Superior Material - Forged 42CrMo Steel: We start with high-grade 42CrMo (AISI 4140) alloy steel. The raw material is forged, which creates a continuous internal grain flow that follows the shaft's contour. This process results in a component vastly superior in fatigue and impact resistance compared to shafts machined from simple bar stock.

  2. Advanced Heat Treatment:

    • Quenching & Tempering (Q&T): The entire shaft is heat-treated to achieve a perfect balance of high tensile strength and core toughness, allowing it to flex under shock loads without fracturing.

    • Induction Hardening: The external gear teeth and splines are subjected to a secondary induction hardening process. This creates an extremely hard, wear-resistant surface (55-60 HRC) precisely where it's needed most, while keeping the core tough.

  3. Precision CNC Machining & Gear Cutting: Using state-of-the-art CNC machining centers and gear hobbing equipment, we cut the internal and external splines to exact tolerances. This ensures a perfect, tight fit with mating components, preventing premature wear and spline failure.

The Yile Guarantee: 100% Verified Quality Before Shipment

We know the cost of downtime. That's why we don't just trust the process; we verify the result. Every single reducer output shaft undergoes a rigorous Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) protocol.

  • 100% Ultrasonic Testing (UT): Scans the entire forged shaft to guarantee zero internal defects, voids, or inclusions.

  • 100% Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI): Inspects the entire surface, especially the critical spline roots, for any potential micro-cracks.

  • Full Dimensional & Hardness Checks: We verify all critical dimensions and test the surface hardness to ensure it meets the engineering specification.

Applications for Major Excavator Brands

We can manufacture OEM-equivalent or custom-designed output shafts for:

  • Final Drive / Travel Reducers

  • Swing Drive / Slew Reducers

We produce parts compatible with Caterpillar, Komatsu, Hitachi, Volvo, Doosan, Hyundai, and many other leading excavator manufacturers.
