Product Description

Babbitt Bearings Engineered for Maximum Uptime and Reliability

The support bearings are the foundation of a rotary kiln's operation. These massive journal bearings carry the entire load of the rotating kiln shell via the trunnion rollers. In this high-load, continuous-operation environment, the performance of the Babbitt bearing is paramount. A premature failure can lead to catastrophic damage to the trunnion journal and an extended, multi-million dollar plant shutdown.

Yile Machinery is a specialist in the manufacture and repair of high-reliability Babbitt (white metal) bearings for rotary kilns, dryers, and large grinding mills. We combine premium materials with a meticulous, quality-controlled process to deliver bearings that ensure the stable and predictable operation of your most critical asset.

The Critical Role of the Babbitt Lining

The heart of the bearing is the sacrificial layer of Babbitt metal. This soft alloy is designed to protect the far more expensive trunnion roller journal. Its performance depends on two factors: the alloy composition and, most importantly, the integrity of the bond to the bearing shell.

A poor bond can lead to delamination, overheating, and rapid bearing failure. Our process focuses on creating a flawless, void-free bond for maximum thermal conductivity and mechanical strength.

Our Manufacturing & Re-Babbitting Process: A Focus on Quality

Whether we are manufacturing a new bearing or repairing your existing one, we follow a rigorous, multi-step process to guarantee performance.

  1. Thorough Preparation: The steel or cast iron bearing housing is meticulously cleaned and prepared. For repairs, all old Babbitt is completely removed and the surface is prepared to ensure a perfect molecular bond.

  2. Centrifugal or Static Casting: We use controlled casting methods to pour the new Babbitt lining. Precise temperature control of both the housing and the molten Babbitt is critical to prevent defects and ensure a uniform grain structure.

  3. 100% Ultrasonic Bond Testing: This is our guarantee of quality. After casting, the entire bonded surface is non-destructively tested using ultrasonic equipment. This process verifies that there are zero voids or areas of non-adhesion between the Babbitt and the bearing shell.

  4. Precision Machining: The final bearing surface is machined to exact dimensional tolerances. We ensure the precise clearance required to establish a perfect hydrodynamic oil film—the key to a long and reliable service life.

New Manufacture & Expert Repair Services

We provide a complete solution for your kiln bearing needs, helping you reduce costs and minimize downtime.

  • New Bearing Manufacture: We can manufacture complete, new support bearings based on OEM drawings or by reverse-engineering an existing part.

  • Re-Babbitting & Repair Services: Don't scrap a damaged bearing housing. Send it to us. We can strip the old lining, repair any damage to the housing, and re-cast a new Babbitt surface, restoring it to "better-than-new" condition at a fraction of the cost of a replacement.

Quality Assurance for Mission-Critical Components

Every bearing we produce or repair is subject to a complete quality assurance protocol.

  • Chemical Analysis of the Babbitt alloy to certify its composition.

  • Ultrasonic Testing (UT) to guarantee bond integrity.

  • Dye Penetrant Testing (PT) to inspect for any surface flaws.

  • Full Dimensional Inspection Report to verify all critical clearances and tolerances.

Applications

Our heavy-duty Babbitt bearings are essential for the reliable operation of:

  • Rotary Cement & Lime Kilns

  • SAG, AG, and Ball Mill Trunnions

  • Rotary Dryers and Coolers

  • Large Industrial Fans and Turbines
