Product Description
For the most demanding applications in cement plants, mining operations, and mineral processing, a forged support roller offers the ultimate in strength and fatigue resistance. These critical components, also known as trunnion rollers, bear the immense weight of rotating equipment like kilns and large grinding mills.
Yile Machinery is a specialist manufacturer of large-diameter, custom-forged support rollers, engineered to deliver unparalleled performance and reliability in extreme operating environments.
Unlike cast rollers, which can have internal voids or inconsistencies, a forged roller possesses a uniformly refined grain structure. The open-die forging process kneads and works the steel, eliminating defects and aligning the grain flow for superior mechanical properties.
Benefits of a Forged Roller:
Superior Tensile and Yield Strength: Withstands higher loads without deformation.
Exceptional Impact Toughness: Resists fracture from shock loads.
Maximum Fatigue Life: Provides a significantly longer service life in continuous rotational applications.
Our forged rollers are produced through a multi-stage process focused on quality and precision.
Open-Die Forging: We begin with a high-quality ingot of alloy steel, such as 42CrMo4 (AISI 4140/4142) or 34CrNiMo6, selected for its excellent strength and hardenability. The ingot is heated and progressively shaped under a hydraulic press into a solid roller blank.
Optimized Heat Treatment: The roller forging undergoes a two-stage heat treatment:
Quenching & Tempering (Q&T): This through-hardening process develops the core strength and toughness of the roller.
Induction Hardening: The roller's outer surface (the tread) is induction hardened to achieve a surface hardness of HRC 55-60. This creates an extremely durable, wear-resistant layer to ensure smooth operation and long life when in contact with the kiln tyre.
Precision CNC Machining: The hardened roller is finished on heavy-duty lathes. We machine the roller face, chamfers, and bores to tight tolerances, ensuring a perfect fit and optimal performance within the support assembly.
Every forged roller is manufactured to meet rigorous quality standards and is subjected to comprehensive inspection.
Materials: High-strength alloy steels (42CrMo4, 34CrNiMo6, 30CrNiMo8, etc.)
Non-Destructive Testing (NDT): 100% Ultrasonic Testing (UT) to guarantee internal soundness and Magnetic Particle (MT) or Dye Penetrant (PT) testing for surface integrity.
Applications:
Rotary Kilns (Cement, Lime)
Rotary Dryers
Large Grinding Mills (e.g., SAG mills, tube mills)
Other large-scale rotating industrial equipment.
