Unlike solid forged or cast rolls, fabricated rolls are engineered assemblies, offering design flexibility and significant weight and cost advantages. Our manufacturing process focuses on structural integrity and precision:
Roll Body Construction: The main body is typically formed from thick-walled steel pipe or plate that is rolled and joined with a high-quality longitudinal seam weld.
Shaft End (Trunnion) Integration: Solid forged shafts, or trunnions, are precisely machined and then expertly fitted and welded into the roll body using full-penetration welds to create a monolithic, powerful structure.
Post-Weld Heat Treatment (Stress Relieving): This is a critical step. After all welding is complete, the entire roll assembly is heat-treated to relieve internal stresses. This prevents distortion during final machining and in-service operation, ensuring the roll remains straight and true.
Precision Machining: The bearing journals, body, and all critical surfaces are machined to tight tolerances for a perfect fit within your conveyor table.
Dynamic Balancing: Each roll is dynamically balanced to minimize vibration at operational speeds. This reduces wear on bearings, extends the life of the roll, and ensures smooth material transport.
Cost-Effective Design: Fabrication is often more economical than forging or casting a solid roll, especially for large-diameter or long rolls.
Lighter Weight: The hollow construction of a fabricated roll reduces its overall mass, decreasing inertia and the load on drive motors and bearings.
