A high-performance pinion shaft is the product of a precise and controlled manufacturing process. We ensure quality at every stage.
We begin with a solid billet of high-strength forged alloy steel, such as 42CrMo (AISI 4140) , 34CrNiMo6 (AISI 4340) , or 18CrNiMo7-6. The forging process creates a superior, continuous grain structure that provides exceptional resistance to fatigue and impact—critical for a long-lasting pinion.
To withstand intense contact stress and wear, the pinion must be hardened. We utilize specialized heat treatment processes:
Carburizing & Quenching: Creates an extremely hard (HRC 58-62) outer case on the gear teeth for maximum wear resistance.
Quenching & Tempering: Develops a strong, tough core that can absorb shock loads without fracturing.
After heat treatment, the shaft is finished with high-precision processes:
CNC Machining: The shaft body and bearing journals are machined to exact tolerances.
Precision Gear Grinding: The hardened gear teeth are ground on a CNC gear grinding machine. This critical final step corrects any minor distortions from heat treatment and produces a highly accurate tooth profile and a super-fine surface finish, ensuring a perfect mesh and extended operational life.
