Product Description
The spur pinion shaft is a fundamental component in high-torque power transmission systems. As an integral unit where the gear and shaft are one piece, it provides maximum strength and rigidity. It is the driving force in countless industrial applications, from massive kiln drives to powerful winch gearboxes.
Yile Machinery specializes in manufacturing these robust, integral shafts from high-tensile forged steel, custom-made to your exact specifications.
Spur gears feature straight teeth mounted on parallel shafts. While simple in design, they are a powerful and reliable solution for transmitting high torque.
High Strength & Efficiency: The straight-tooth design provides excellent load-bearing capacity and is highly efficient.
Reliability & Cost-Effectiveness: Their straightforward design makes them reliable and economical to produce for heavy-duty applications.
Versatility: Ideal for a wide range of speeds and industrial machinery, including crushers, mills, mixers, and conveyor drives.
The performance of a pinion shaft is determined by its material and manufacturing process. We build strength in from the very beginning.
We start with a solid billet of steel that is forged into the rough shape of the shaft. This process refines the steel's internal grain structure, aligning it for superior resistance to torsional stress and fatigue—a critical advantage over shafts machined from standard bar stock.
We manufacture these shafts from EN24 (also known as 817M40 or AISI 4340) , a high-strength nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy steel. EN24 is renowned for its:
Excellent Tensile Strength
Exceptional Toughness and Shock Resistance
Good Wear Resistance After Hardening
This makes it the perfect material for a pinion shaft that must endure constant, heavy loads.
From raw forging to the finished component, every step is controlled for quality.
CNC Machining: The forged blank is precision-turned on our CNC lathes to create the shaft diameters and bearing surfaces.
Gear Hobbing: The spur gear teeth are cut with high precision using specialized gear hobbing machines to ensure a perfect mesh.
Heat Treatment: The shaft undergoes a quenching and tempering process to achieve the desired hardness (typically around 28-34 HRC) and toughness throughout the component. The gear teeth can be further induction hardened for maximum surface durability.
Precision Grinding: For applications requiring the highest accuracy, the gear teeth and bearing journals are precision ground after heat treatment to achieve a superior surface finish and tight tolerances.
