Product Description
The kiln tyre, also known as a riding ring, is one of the most fundamental and high-load components of a rotary kiln or dryer. Mounted on the kiln shell, the tyres ride on support rollers, transferring the entire weight of the rotating system and ensuring its stability and alignment.
Yile Machinery specializes in the manufacture of large-scale, forged steel kiln tyres, engineered to provide exceptional strength and a long operational life in the harshest industrial environments.
While tyres can be made from steel castings, a forged tyre offers unmatched structural integrity. The forging process kneads the steel under immense pressure, refining its grain structure and eliminating internal defects. This results in a component with superior toughness and fatigue resistance, making it far less prone to cracking under extreme load cycles.
Our manufacturing process ensures maximum reliability:
High-Quality Forging: We use premium alloy steels like 34CrNiMo (DIN 1.6582) and 42CrMo4 (AISI 4140) . The steel ingot is forged into a seamless ring, creating a dense and homogenous material structure.
Optimized Heat Treatment: After forging, the tyre undergoes a critical Normalizing and Tempering heat treatment. This process relieves stresses from forging, homogenizes the microstructure, and achieves the ideal balance of hardness (for wear resistance) and toughness (to prevent fracture).
Precision Machining: Using large-scale vertical lathes, we machine the tyre to precise dimensional tolerances. The outer diameter and faces are machined to a high surface finish to ensure smooth contact with the support rollers, minimizing wear on both components.
High Structural Integrity: The forged, defect-free structure provides maximum resistance to cracking and deformation under the immense load of the kiln.
Excellent Wear Resistance: Proper material selection and heat treatment result in optimal surface hardness, ensuring a long service life against the friction from support rollers.
Precise Machining: Ensures perfect roundness (concentricity) and a smooth running surface, which is critical for stable kiln operation and minimizing stress on the drive train and support bearings.
Custom Material Selection: We utilize high-strength alloys like 34CrNiMo, 42CrMo4, and other specified grades to meet your specific load and temperature requirements.
Our forged riding rings are essential components for:
