For large-diameter gears, casting is the most effective manufacturing method. We primarily use cast steel for its superior mechanical properties compared to cast iron:
Superior Toughness and Impact Resistance: Cast steel can withstand the heavy shock loads and torque fluctuations common in industrial machinery without fracturing.
High Strength and Durability: Through proper alloying and heat treatment, cast steel achieves the high strength and wear resistance needed for a long service life.
Weldability: Cast steel gears can be repaired if damaged, which is often a critical requirement for large, expensive components.
While we also offer cast iron gears for lower-stress applications, cast steel is the recommended material for any critical, high-torque drive.

Cost-Effective for Large Diameters: Casting is a more economical method than machining from a solid forged blank for gears over a certain size.
Optimized with Heat Treatment: Gears undergo processes like normalizing, quenching, and tempering to refine the grain structure and maximize strength and toughness.
Option for Split Design: For easier installation on trapped shafts (e.g., between two large bearings), we can manufacture gears in two halves that are bolted together.
Material Selection: We use high-quality carbon and alloy cast steels (e.g., ZG45, ZG42CrMo) chosen based on your load requirements.
Casting & Heat Treatment: The gear is cast to its near-net shape and then heat-treated to achieve the desired mechanical properties.
Precision Machining: The gear blank is then moved to our large CNC machines. The teeth are precisely cut using gear hobbing or milling to ensure a smooth, accurate profile for efficient power transmission. The bore, keyway, and mounting holes are also finished to tight tolerances.
Surface Hardening (Optional): For maximum wear resistance, the gear teeth can be surface hardened via induction or flame hardening.
