Product Description

Yile Machinery is a premier manufacturer of large, custom-engineered cast steel gears designed for the most demanding industrial applications. These heavy-duty spur gears are the backbone of high-torque drive systems, responsible for transmitting immense power in mills, kilns, conveyors, and other large-scale equipment.

We specialize in producing gears to your exact specifications, providing reliable and durable solutions for both new equipment and replacement parts.

The Power of Cast Steel for Large Gears

For large-diameter gears, casting is the most effective manufacturing method. We primarily use cast steel for its superior mechanical properties compared to cast iron:

  • Superior Toughness and Impact Resistance: Cast steel can withstand the heavy shock loads and torque fluctuations common in industrial machinery without fracturing.

  • High Strength and Durability: Through proper alloying and heat treatment, cast steel achieves the high strength and wear resistance needed for a long service life.

  • Weldability: Cast steel gears can be repaired if damaged, which is often a critical requirement for large, expensive components.

While we also offer cast iron gears for lower-stress applications, cast steel is the recommended material for any critical, high-torque drive.

Key Features & Advantages

  • Extreme Torque Capacity: Engineered to transmit massive amounts of power in slow-speed, high-torque applications.

  • Custom Manufacturing: Produced according to your specific drawings or parameters (module, number of teeth, face width, bore, material).

  • Cost-Effective for Large Diameters: Casting is a more economical method than machining from a solid forged blank for gears over a certain size.

  • Optimized with Heat Treatment: Gears undergo processes like normalizing, quenching, and tempering to refine the grain structure and maximize strength and toughness.

  • Option for Split Design: For easier installation on trapped shafts (e.g., between two large bearings), we can manufacture gears in two halves that are bolted together.

Our Manufacturing Process: From Casting to Final Gear

  1. Material Selection: We use high-quality carbon and alloy cast steels (e.g., ZG45, ZG42CrMo) chosen based on your load requirements.

  2. Casting & Heat Treatment: The gear is cast to its near-net shape and then heat-treated to achieve the desired mechanical properties.

  3. Precision Machining: The gear blank is then moved to our large CNC machines. The teeth are precisely cut using gear hobbing or milling to ensure a smooth, accurate profile for efficient power transmission. The bore, keyway, and mounting holes are also finished to tight tolerances.

  4. Surface Hardening (Optional): For maximum wear resistance, the gear teeth can be surface hardened via induction or flame hardening.

Applications Across Heavy Industry

Our large cast steel gears are critical components in:

  • Mining & Mineral Processing: Ball mills, SAG mills, crushers, and large excavator swing drives.

  • Cement Plants: Rotary kiln girth gears, dryer drives, and crusher gearboxes.

  • Sugar Mills: Cane crusher and mill drive gears.

  • Power Generation: Wind turbine gearboxes, coal pulverizers.

  • Material Handling: Main drive gears for large-scale industrial conveyors.
