Product Description
The riding ring, also known as a kiln tyre or support roller track, is one of the most critical components of any large-scale rotary equipment. It serves as the primary interface between the rotating shell (of a kiln, dryer, or mill) and the stationary support rollers, bearing the entire weight of the machine and its payload.
Yile Machinery is a leading manufacturer of high-integrity, custom-engineered riding rings, supplied in both solid and segmented designs to meet the world's most demanding industrial applications.
For very large diameter equipment, manufacturing, transporting, and installing a massive, single-piece (monolithic) riding ring is impractical and prohibitively expensive. Our segmented riding ring design offers the ideal solution:
Ease of Manufacturing & Transport: The ring is produced in multiple segments (typically 2, 3, or 4), which are easier to cast, heat-treat, machine, and transport to the job site.
Simplified Installation & Maintenance: Segments are assembled on-site around the kiln or dryer shell. This design also allows for the replacement of a single damaged segment in the future, rather than requiring the replacement of the entire ring, saving significant time and cost.
Design Integrity: When precision-machined and correctly assembled, a segmented riding ring provides the same structural integrity and smooth operational performance as a solid ring.
A riding ring must endure immense compressive loads, thermal stress, and constant abrasive wear. Our manufacturing process is optimized to guarantee durability and performance.
Robust Material Selection: Riding rings are typically manufactured from high-strength cast steel (e.g., ZG45, ZG42CrMo) . For special applications requiring even greater strength, forged steel can be used. These materials provide the perfect balance of surface hardness and core toughness.
Advanced Heat Treatment: Every riding ring or segment undergoes a specialized heat treatment process (such as normalizing and tempering). This refines the steel's grain structure, relieves internal stresses from casting, and ensures uniform mechanical properties for predictable, long-term wear.
The operational smoothness and lifespan of both the riding ring and the support rollers depend entirely on the quality of the machining.
Smooth Rolling Surface: The outer diameter (the rolling surface) is machined on a large vertical lathe to a smooth, perfectly round finish. This minimizes vibration, reduces wear, and ensures even contact with the support rollers.
Perfectly Mated Segments: For segmented designs, the mating faces of each segment are precision-milled to be perfectly flat and square. This guarantees a tight, seamless fit upon assembly, creating a virtually monolithic ring.
Tight Tolerance Control: All dimensions, including inner diameter for mounting, outer diameter, and face parallelism, are held to strict tolerances to ensure flawless installation and performance.
We manufacture custom riding rings and kiln tyres for a wide range of equipment:
Rotary Kilns (Cement, Lime, Metallurgy)
Rotary Dryers (Minerals, Chemicals, Biomass)
Large Ball Mills and SAG Mills
Granulators and Other Large Rotating Drums
