A wire rope sheave is a fundamental component in any lifting or pulling system, from massive port cranes to industrial hoists. It is a grooved wheel designed to guide a wire rope, change its direction, or transmit force. Material Selection: Sheaves are typically manufactured from high-strength cast steel (e.g., ZG35SiMn) , which offers excellent durability and load-bearing properties. For extreme load applications, forged steel sheaves can be produced for superior toughness and fatigue resistance.
Rope Groove Hardening: The most critical part of the sheave is the surface of the rope groove. We utilize a specialized quenching and tempering heat treatment process on the groove to significantly increase its surface hardness. This creates a highly wear-resistant surface that minimizes abrasion on the wire rope, while the core of the sheave remains tough and ductile to absorb shock loads.
Extended Wire Rope Life: The smooth, hardened groove surface reduces friction and wear on the wire rope, leading to significant cost savings and increased safety.
High Load Capacity: The robust cast or forged steel body is engineered to handle extreme loads without deformation or failure.
