Product Description

Yile Machinery is a foundry specializing in the production of high-performance manganese steel castings. Also known as Hadfield steel, this material is the industry standard for components subjected to severe impact and abrasive wear.

The excavator link shown here is a testament to our ability to produce tough, durable castings that thrive in the harshest operating conditions.

The Unbeatable Advantage of Work-Hardening Steel

High manganese steel (typically containing 12-14% Manganese, e.g., Mn13) possesses a unique and valuable property: it work-hardens.

  • Initial State: The steel is supplied in a tough, ductile, austenitic state.

  • Under Impact: When the surface is subjected to repeated impact or high-stress abrasion, it hardens dramatically, from ~200 BHN to over 500 BHN.

  • The Result: This creates a hard, wear-resistant outer layer while the inner core remains tough and ductile, preventing the part from fracturing under heavy shock loads. It literally gets stronger with use.

Key Benefits:

  • Extreme Wear Resistance: Outlasts standard carbon and alloy steels in high-impact applications.

  • Superior Toughness: Resists fracture and chipping from severe, repeated impacts.

  • Longer Service Life: Reduces downtime and replacement costs for critical machinery.

Our Specialized Casting & Heat Treatment Process

Producing high-quality manganese steel requires specialized foundry expertise.

  1. Precise Alloying & Melting: We melt high-purity materials and precisely control the carbon and manganese content using a spectrometer to ensure optimal properties.

  2. Expert Casting: We utilize robust molding techniques to produce sound, defect-free castings, whether the part is simple or complex.

  3. Critical Heat Treatment: This is the most important step. After casting, the parts are heated to over 1000°C and then rapidly quenched in water. This "solution annealing" process creates the tough, austenitic microstructure necessary for work-hardening performance.

  4. Finishing & Inspection: Castings are finished to your specifications and undergo rigorous quality checks, including dimensional verification and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) upon request.

Common Grades & Applications

We pour various grades of manganese steel to suit different applications:

  • Standard Mn13 (ASTM A128 Grade A): The workhorse for general impact and wear.

  • High-Carbon Mn18: For even greater wear resistance.

  • Chrome-Alloyed Mn13Cr2: Enhanced strength and wear properties.

Our manganese steel castings are the preferred choice for wear parts in:

  • Mining & Aggregate: Jaw crusher plates, cone/gyratory crusher mantles and concaves, hammer mill hammers, shovel teeth, and track links.

  • Cement Industry: Mill liners and impact plates.

  • Shot Blasting Equipment: Blast blades, impellers, and liners.

  • Railways: Frogs, switches, and crossings.
