Product Description

Engineered for Mission-Critical Performance in Power Generation

In the world of power generation, the rotor is the single most critical rotating component. Operating at high speeds and temperatures for decades, a turbine or generator rotor must deliver absolute reliability. A material flaw or manufacturing defect can lead to catastrophic failure, resulting in massive financial loss and significant safety risks.

Yile Machinery is a premier manufacturer of open-die forged and precision-machined rotor shafts. We supply high-integrity rotors for steam turbines, gas turbines, and generators, engineered to meet the most demanding OEM and industry standards.

The Forging Process: The Foundation of Reliability

The integrity of a rotor begins with the forging process. We utilize the open-die forging method, which delivers superior metallurgical properties compared to other methods.

  1. Ingot Selection: We start with ultra-clean, vacuum-degassed alloy steel ingots from certified mills.

  2. Forging & Cogging: The ingot is heated and forged under immense pressure. This process refines the grain structure, eliminates internal voids, and orients the grain flow for maximum strength and fatigue resistance in the final component.

  3. Material & Standards: We work with a wide range of high-performance alloys specified for power generation rotors, including:

    • CrMoV Alloys: (e.g., 26NiCrMoV, 30CrMoV, 34CrNiMoV) for high-temperature strength and creep resistance.

    • CrNiMo Alloys: For high toughness and strength in low-pressure turbines and generator rotors.

    • Compliance with international standards such as ASTM A470, EN 10222, and customer-specific requirements.

Advanced Heat Treatment & Precision Machining

A forging's mechanical properties are locked in through precise thermal processing and machining.

  • Optimized Heat Treatment: Rotors undergo a multi-stage heat treatment cycle, typically including Quenching and Tempering (Q&T) , to achieve the exact balance of tensile strength, toughness, and hardness required by the design. All cycles are performed in calibrated furnaces with detailed data logging.

  • Precision Machining: After heat treatment and preliminary testing, the rotor is rough and final machined on large-scale CNC lathes and milling centers. We achieve the tight tolerances required for bearing journals, seals, and turbine blade or coupling interfaces.

Uncompromising Quality Assurance: The Guarantee of Integrity

Every rotor shaft undergoes a rigorous, multi-stage inspection and testing protocol to ensure it is free from defects. There is no room for compromise.

  • Chemical Analysis: Verification of alloy composition.

  • Mechanical Property Testing: Tensile, yield, elongation, and Charpy impact tests are performed on test specimens taken from the forging to verify the results of heat treatment.

  • 100% Non-Destructive Testing (NDT):

    • Ultrasonic Testing (UT): Performed multiple times throughout the process to guarantee the forging is free from any internal defects (per ASTM A388 or similar standards).

    • Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI): To ensure the surface is free from any cracks or indications.

  • Dimensional Inspection: Full dimensional layout to confirm all features are machined to drawing specifications.

  • Full Documentation: A complete Manufacturer's Data Report (MDR) is supplied with every rotor, including material certifications, heat treatment charts, NDT reports, and dimensional inspection records.

Applications

We manufacture custom-forged rotor shafts for a range of power generation equipment:

  • Steam Turbine Rotors (HP, IP, LP)
