The Blowout Preventor (BOP) is the ultimate safety barrier in oil and gas drilling operations, designed to contain dangerous wellbore pressures. The integrity of the BOP body is non-negotiable. Yile Machinery specializes in the open-die forging of high-strength, reliable BOP bodies that serve as the foundation for critical well control equipment.
We manufacture forged bodies for a range of Ram BOP configurations, including this Single Ram BOP Body, designed for a 13 5/8" bore and a 5,000 PSI (5M) working pressure.
A forged BOP body offers significantly superior mechanical properties compared to cast or fabricated alternatives. Our stringent manufacturing process ensures compliance and performance under extreme conditions.
Open-Die Forging: We start with high-quality AISI 4130 alloy steel ingots. The open-die forging process works the material under immense pressure, refining the grain structure, eliminating voids, and orienting the grain flow to provide maximum strength, toughness, and fatigue resistance in the final product.
Controlled Heat Treatment: After forging, each BOP body undergoes a specialized Quench and Temper (Q&T) heat treatment cycle. This critical step develops the required mechanical properties (hardness, tensile strength, and impact toughness) to meet or exceed the stringent requirements of API Specification 16A.
Precision Machining: The rough forging is then precision-machined to create the final BOP body, including the ram cavities, flange faces, stud holes, and ring grooves.
Corrosion-Resistant Weld Overlay: For enhanced durability and sealing performance, critical sealing surfaces like ring grooves can be inlaid with corrosion-resistant alloys (CRA) such as stainless steel or Inconel via a specialized weld overlay process.

Primary Material: AISI 4130, a chromium-molybdenum alloy steel renowned for its high strength, toughness, and excellent hardenability, making it the industry standard for pressure control equipment.
Industry Standard Compliance: Our BOP bodies are forged and heat-treated to meet the material property requirements of API 16A (Specification for Drill-through Equipment).
Sour Service Capability: Forgings can be supplied to meet NACE MR0175 requirements for applications in H₂S (sour gas) environments.
Comprehensive NDT: Each forging is subjected to rigorous Non-Destructive Testing, including:
Ultrasonic Testing (UT) to ensure internal soundness.
Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) and Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT) to verify surface integrity.
Full Traceability: We provide a complete documentation package, including Material Test Reports (MTRs), heat treatment charts, and NDT reports, ensuring full traceability from raw material to finished product.
