Product Description
Precision-Engineered for Maximum Torque and Reliability in Industrial Gearboxes
Yile Machinery is a premier manufacturer of custom pinion shafts and pinion gears for the most demanding industrial drive systems. As the critical link between the power source and the gear train, the pinion must withstand immense stress. We engineer and manufacture our pinions for exceptional strength, precision, and service life.
From single prototypes to production runs, we produce spline pinions and integral pinion shafts that are the heart of reliable, high-performance machinery.
A splined connection is superior to a standard keyed shaft for heavy-duty applications.
Maximum Torque Capacity: The multiple teeth of a spline distribute the load over a much larger surface area, allowing for the transmission of significantly higher torque without risk of failure.
Elimination of Stress Risers: Splines remove the need for keyways, which can act as stress concentration points and potential failure locations under high or reversing loads.
Precise Alignment: A well-machined spline ensures perfect concentric alignment between the shaft and the mating component, reducing vibration and wear.
We can manufacture shafts with all common spline types, including rectangular, involute, and custom profiles.
A pinion's performance is determined by the quality of its manufacturing process. We control every step to guarantee a superior final product.
Material Selection & Forging: We begin with high-tensile, clean alloy steels such as 42CrMo (AISI 4140) , 34CrNiMo6 (AISI 4340) , and 18CrNiMo7-6. The raw material is forged to refine its grain structure, significantly increasing its toughness and fatigue strength compared to standard bar stock.
Advanced Heat Treatment: This is the most critical step for performance. Based on the material and application, we perform:
Through Hardening (Quenching & Tempering): To achieve high core strength and toughness throughout the entire shaft.
Surface Hardening (Induction or Carburizing): To create an extremely hard, wear-resistant surface on the gear teeth (typically 58-62 HRC) while maintaining a ductile core to absorb shock loads.
Precision Machining & Gear Cutting:
The shaft is precision-turned on CNC lathes.
Splines are cut using specialized hobbing or shaping machines.
Gear teeth are cut using high-precision CNC Gear Hobbing or Milling.
For the highest accuracy and best surface finish, we offer Precision Gear Grinding after heat treatment.
Comprehensive Quality Control:
Non-Destructive Testing (NDT): We use Magnetic Particle (MT) and Ultrasonic (UT) inspection to ensure the material is 100% free of cracks or internal flaws.
Dimensional & Geometric Inspection: Full CMM inspection of the gear profile, lead, and index, plus verification of all shaft dimensions.
Hardness Testing: To verify the success of the heat treatment process on the surface and in the core.
Our custom pinion shafts are integral components in:
Industrial Gearboxes & Speed Reducers
Mining & Bulk Material Handling: Conveyor drives, crusher gearboxes, mill drives.
Steel & Metal Processing: Rolling mill drives, coiler and uncoiler gearboxes.
Marine & Offshore: Propulsion systems, deck winch drives, crane hoists.
Power Generation: Turbine gearboxes, pump drives.
Construction Equipment: Crane swing and hoist drives, excavator final drives.
