The Path to Precision: Manufacturing Lapped Gear Sets

A perfect bevel gear is not just a single part; it's half of a perfectly matched set. Our manufacturing process is optimized to create precision-lapped gear sets for optimal contact and performance.

  1. Forging & Material Preparation: We begin with a quality-inspected forged blank, which is heat-treated to refine its metallurgical structure.

  2. Precision CNC Machining: The blank is precision-turned and machined to establish all critical mounting surfaces and dimensions.

  3. Advanced 5-Axis Gear Cutting: We utilize advanced 5-axis CNC gear cutting machines to generate the complex spiral tooth geometry with exceptional accuracy.

  4. Controlled Heat Treatment: The gear undergoes a specialized heat treatment process (e.g., carburizing and hardening) to achieve a hard, wear-resistant surface while maintaining a tough, ductile core.

  5. Precision Grinding & Lapping: After heat treatment, the gear teeth are precision ground to correct any minor distortions. Critically, the gear and its matching pinion are lapped together as a set, creating a perfect, mated contact pattern for their entire service life.

  6. Final Quality Assurance: Each gear set is tested for its contact pattern (using marking compound) and subjected to rigorous dimensional and material inspection.
