The Ring Rolling Process: Forging Superior Strength

Our seamless rings are created through a multi-step hot working process designed to optimize the steel's internal structure:

  1. Open-Die Forging: We begin with a high-quality steel ingot or billet, which is heated to forging temperature. It is then upset and pierced using an open-die press to create a hollow preform, often called a "donut." This initial step begins the process of grain refinement.

  2. Ring Rolling: The heated preform is placed on the main roll of a specialized ring rolling mill. As the mill rotates, a series of axial and radial rollers apply immense pressure, gradually reducing the wall thickness and increasing the diameter of the ring.

  3. Resulting Grain Flow: This rolling process forces the metal's grain structure to align in a circumferential direction, eliminating the weak points found in welded or cast rings. The result is a monolithic component with exceptional resistance to fatigue and impact.
