How It Works

The torque limiter is installed between the driving element (e.g., motor) and the driven element (e.g., gearbox or sprocket).

  1. Normal Operation: A set of disc springs applies pressure to friction plates, creating a rigid connection that transmits torque from the input hub to the output flange.

  2. Overload Event: If the driven machinery jams, the torque demand spikes. When this torque exceeds the preset spring pressure, the friction plates overcome their static friction and begin to slip. This instantly disengages the input from the output, allowing the motor to spin freely while the driven side remains stationary.

  3. Automatic Reset: As soon as the obstruction is removed and the load returns to normal, the friction plates automatically re-engage, and the system is immediately operational again.
