High-Performance Forged Steel Rolls for Metal Rolling Mills
Product Description
Yile Machinery is a premier manufacturer of custom-forged alloy steel rolls for the global metal processing industry. We engineer and produce high-performance work rolls, intermediate rolls (IMR), and backup rolls (BUR) for both hot and cold rolling mill applications.
Our expertise in forging, advanced heat treatment, and precision grinding ensures that every roll we deliver offers superior wear resistance, excellent surface quality, and extended service life, helping you maximize mill uptime and product quality.
Custom Rolls for Every Mill Stand Position
We manufacture rolls tailored to the specific demands of each position in the rolling process:
Work Rolls: The final rolls that make direct contact with the metal strip. Our work rolls are forged and heat-treated to achieve exceptionally high surface hardness and wear resistance, ensuring a perfect finish on your rolled product (steel, aluminum, copper, etc.).
Intermediate Rolls (IMR): Used in 6-Hi mills and other configurations, these rolls transfer and distribute the rolling force from the backup rolls to the work rolls. We engineer them for the optimal balance of hardness and toughness.
Backup Rolls (BUR): These large-diameter rolls provide the rigid support and force necessary for the rolling process. Our backup rolls are forged for deep structural integrity and heat-treated for a tough, crack-resistant core and a durable working surface.
Our Integrated Manufacturing Process: From Ingot to Finished Roll
Quality is forged into our rolls at every step. Our tightly controlled, in-house manufacturing process guarantees a superior final product.
Premium Steel Melting & Refining: We begin with high-quality steel produced via advanced refining processes (e.g., EAF+LF+VD, ESR) to ensure ultra-low impurities and a homogenous chemical composition.
Multi-Directional Forging: The steel ingot is forged to break down the coarse cast structure, refine the grain, and create a dense, uniform internal structure, dramatically improving the roll's mechanical properties and resistance to fatigue.
Advanced Heat Treatment: This is the most critical stage. Each roll undergoes a specialized heat treatment cycle (including quenching and multi-stage tempering) to achieve the precise hardness profile required—a hard, wear-resistant working layer with a strong, tough core and neck.
Precision Machining & CNC Grinding: The heat-treated roll blank is finished on high-precision CNC lathes and grinding machines. We achieve superior surface finish (Ra), exceptional concentricity, and tight dimensional tolerances as per your drawings.
Materials & Technical Specifications
We work with a range of proven alloy steels to meet the demands of any rolling application.
Key Alloy Grades Include:
9Cr2Mo
86CrMoV7
MC3 / MC5
5CrNiMo
42CrMo
Technical Capabilities:
Surface Hardness: Up to 100 HSD (Shore Hardness D)
Dimensional Tolerance: Precision tolerances on diameter, concentricity, and runout.
Surface Finish: High-quality ground finishes suitable for all rolling applications.
Uncompromising Quality Control
Every roll is subjected to rigorous inspection before shipment, including:
Ultrasonic Testing (UT) to ensure freedom from internal defects.
Hardness testing across the roll body.
Final dimensional inspection to confirm compliance with all drawing specifications.
