Yile Machinery is a specialist manufacturer of custom open-die forged gear blanks. Using powerful hydraulic presses, we transform heated billets of carbon and alloy steel into near-net shape forgings that serve as the foundation for high-strength industrial gears.

Our free forging process is ideal for producing large, heavy-duty gear blanks for applications where exceptional strength and fatigue resistance are non-negotiable.

The Open-Die Forging Advantage for Gear Manufacturing

Unlike casting or cutting from bar stock, our open-die forging process delivers unparalleled metallurgical properties.

  1. Heating & Forging: A solid steel billet is heated to a precise forging temperature (approx. 1200°C). It is then shaped between flat dies in a hydraulic press, which applies immense, controlled pressure.

  2. Improved Grain Structure: This process does not simply shape the metal; it refines and directs the internal grain flow. This eliminates internal voids and creates a continuous grain structure that follows the contour of the gear blank, resulting in superior mechanical properties.

From Raw Forging to Rough-Machined Blanks

We deliver gear blanks tailored to your production needs:

  • As-Forged: Raw forgings with a black, scaled surface.

  • Normalized or Heat-Treated: Forgings can be heat-treated (normalized, quenched, tempered) to achieve specific mechanical properties.

  • Rough Machined (Proof Machined): We can perform initial machining to bring the blank closer to its final dimensions, saving you valuable time and machining capacity.
